Year End Freshgrade Reflection

6/3/2016

How do you think your year went in Grade 6 (VI)?
Most of my Grade 6 (VI) year was very great times, but, sometimes they were bad. I hung out with many friends, including boys. A few times, I got hurt by boys. But hey, I had 83% great times and 17% bad/sad moments. But don't worry, somehow, I'll have great times in Grade 7 (VII) and there will be no bad/sad times. I was good at Genius Hour and I will try to be good at Spelling Pre-Tests.

What was something that was very memorable?
I believe in Grade 6 (VI) the most memorable thing was that Me and Mackenzie hanging out and Genius Hour by working together to make animation. Thanks everyone who is my best friend.

Looking back on your reading comprehension throughout the year, what was one thing you were really proud of?
The novel I most enjoyed this year was Touching Spirit Bear because it was very interesting and intense that just blew me away. Something I want to improve on is reading more novels. Something I was proud of in L.A. (Language Arts) was Spelling. A highlight in Lit Circles was that it was too slow when I want to read fast without any bumbling.

What was one thing that you struggled with in terms of reading and that you think you should continue working on?

Well, I struggled with reading novels without having an interest in it. I read well and comprehend well too. I need to read varieties instead of reading graphic novels. I will continue reading novels at school and hopefully enjoy reading novels.

What writing piece were you most proud of? What about it made you proud?
The writing piece that made me proud was weekend writes. It made me proud because  I can tell people what I've done over the weekend and write without a squawk. I was able to write lots.

What was one thing that you think you still need to work on throughout all of your writing? How do you know you need to work on this?
The one thing I still need to work on is to remember what I've done on the weekend by writing over the weekend, I will do it soon. I need to work on the amount of paragraph lengths also add more detail in writing.

We have talked a lot about communication skills. What is one thing that you do well in terms of communication and one thing that you still think that you should keep working on.
The one thing I do well with communication is talking and expressing my feelings when I'm angry, sad or happy. The one thing I need to work on is communicate better, instead of being explosive. Talk to friends and teachers in a calm way to get my point across.

Do you think you do a good job for asking for help when you need it? How do you know you are good at asking for help or not?
I do ask for help when I need it. I know I am good at asking for help as I will ask Ms. Webb, Ms. Todter (If she's in the room) and Ms. Bains to assist me in a question I have regarding Math, Spelling and others if I'm not understanding.

In Math, we learned a lot of things this year. Talk about a time when you struggled with something in Math. What was it and how did you get better at it?
In Math, I struggled with fractions. Ms. Bains, Ms. Webb and Ms. Todter and peers would sit with me to understand fractions. Something clicked and I got it. Even though I got ticked off, I end up understanding pretty well and did good on tests. I didn't give up.

What was one thing you were really proud of in Math this year---something you think you did really well or a challenge you over came?
The proudest Math moment this year is getting all right on my Ratio and Rate unit with booklet and test. I did Long Division pretty well during with all steps. The challenge I overcame was Fractions unit at first, I didn't get it, then, Ms. Bains explained to me a couple times and I finally got it.

We spent a lot of time learning about what Social Emotional Learning. ow do you self-regulate? How do you promote social emotional learning around you?
Well, I self-regulate by listening to film scores, watching YouTube videos and cuddling with my cats. These things make me happy and calm. Happy and calm are great things to do. I think positive things as well. The ways to promote S.E.L. is by breathing and telling an adult. I put my name on the Z.O.R. under the color you're feeling.

How did you like project-based learning? What was your strengths? What could you work on in the future?
I loved project-based learnings, they're so fun! My strengths are working together with friends. I would like to work on making books in the future.

You experienced different types of innovative learning with the classroom. How did this best support your learning? What did you like about it?
Well, passion projects are really awesome because you can make things you like! It supports me by having fun and being famous.

Every day you never sat in the same spot, you had a different seat to start your morning. How did this benefit your learning? What did you like about it?
Well, I always sit in the same spot, every day. Well, sometimes I get best friends when they sit with me, that's good. Why do I sit in the same spot? It's because it's near the door and I come at 9:00. I get helped by Ms. Webb and Ms. Todter.

My goals over the summer are...
Going camping, hanging out with Mackenzie, Alex and Austin, Going to Kelowna, having sleepovers and going swimming. Those are my goals for the summer. I will also do The Summer Journal on my computer blog.

My goals for Grade 7 for numeracy are...
Being better at Fractions and Divisions. Those are my numeracy goals for Grade 7.

My goals for Grade 7 for Literacy are...
Reading more novels and writing more details. Those are my Literacy goals for Grade 7.

My overall goals for Grade 7 are...
Making poems and animation to be famous. Those are my E.M.P. goals for Grade 7!

What did you learn about in Aboriginal Education this year?
Well, I learned about A.E. (Aboriginal Education) thanks to "My Name is Seepeetza". I think that Aboriginal Culture is important and special. Residential Schools are harsh and Evil! A.E. is important because it is our heritage. I learned that Aboriginal People took care of the land.

                                                  Thanks for Reading! :)

2016 is the year of the red monkey!
The Chinese name of 2016 in the Chinese Horoscope calendar is  . Chinese apply Five Elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth) into the Chinese calendar.  is in the Fire group. The color of Fire is connected to Red.  is the calendar character corresponding to Monkey. Therefore, 2016 is the Red Fire Monkey year. I haven't been to a chinese new year before. But I heard of it on Angry Birds Seasons: Year of the Dragon 2012! I hope to learn that it is awesum!
Why do people celebrate Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year is a time for families to be together. Wherever they are, people come home to celebrate the festival with their families. The New Year's Eve dinner is called Reunion Dinner, and is believed to be the most important meal of the year.
Why do Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year marks the first day of the New Year in the Chinese calendar, which differs from the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year.
They hand out chinese red packets filled with money for good luck! The symbols on the packets are different for each person!
I hope I learn more about their traditions!
THE END!

I was born on May 4th 2004 at 5:12 am at the Surrey Memorial Hospital. A few weeks after my old*3 house we moved into my Mommy Tammy's Old House. In 2006, I moved in Taylor Way, Delta, BC. I remember when I was young when i jumped off the stairs 6-9 feet ouch! In June, 2011, I had a dog named Hershey it was a shih tzu but mom took it away in August, 2011 because my old*2 house is not allowed dogs. But in October 4, 2012 I got a hamster named Gloria. So, I moved to my old house on November 17,2012. On Christmas Eve, 2012 I got 2 kitties named Max & Freckles. In September, 2013, I got a puppy named Penny (Pennifer), She was a Labradoodle. But sadly on November 1, 2013 (after school ended) My hamster died. But luckily on May 3, 2015, me and my friends went to Watermania in Richmond I had loads of fun:)! On August 2, 2015 I moved in Surrey. Then I had Cello Lessons on Sept 12, 2015 And that`s how I got a good life.
                                                                                                          The End:)!
